This provides opportunity for a degree of back and forth between them on how the story is told, what facts are important, how is the narrative being dressed up, etc. I do not find the book really interesting or really well documented about this period but it could be interesting for non argentine readers as I am from Argentina and lived those gloomy and repressing years. Also, Restrepo sometimes attempts to underline her themes in ways that felt heavy-handed. Was he 6 or 26?

The good stuff, the revolution stuff, is all TOLD thru conversations between mother and son. As Mateo is the actual protagonist in the “present” time of the novel, this is a serious flaw that turns a great story into a “hit and miss” experience, shame.
I initially had trouble with this novel and contemplated putting it away. Ships from and sold by Amazon. AmazonGlobal Ship Orders Internationally. Restrepo sets some boundaries for herself by this mechanism and does fairly well within them.

It seems the english translation is kinda poor too, judging by those negative reviews. The boy grew up without the father, and so they have come back to Argen This is a story about two Colombians, a mother and a restfepo, who are visiting Buenos Aires.

I am of two-minds about this book. Talese first published May 1st Es una buena novela, en su contexto es honesta y resalta la calidad humana y literaria de la autora. Set up a giveaway. He manages to find and reunite with him in Bariloche. Lorenza manages to take Mateo back and escapes to Bogota.

Restrepo weaves a tight, carefully crafted story. Amazon Renewed Refurbished products with a warranty. This was demaasiados very easy-to-read book and I enjoyed a lot doing it.
